Prinsip dasar dari pH electrode adalah ketika dua buah liquid yang memiliki pH yang berbeda dihubungkan dengan sebuah kontak secara berlawanan pada membran kaca yang tipis maka kedua buah kontak tersebut akan menghasilkan beda potensial atau tegangan. Fenomena ini pertama kali di temukan oleh Max Cremer pada tahun 1906.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saat ini, pH probe banyak digunakan pada macam-macam peralatan yang berhubungan dengan kualitas air, cairan, misalnya pada limbah air atau pada tanaman hidroponik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Setiap pH Probe memiliki output tegangan yang sama, tabel dibawah ini merupakan output tegangan pH probe terhadap pH (0-14) pada suhu 25 DegC. Untuk itu diperlukan signal conditioning yang bisa menguatkan dan mengubah tegangan output pH Probe sehingga dapat dengan mudah dibaca dengan menggunakan ADC pada arduino atau pada microcontroller lainnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arduino Analog PH Sensor Board (RDD-AFE-001) merupakan signal conditioning board yang digunakan untuk pH probe. Pada suhu liquid 25DegC, Board tersebut akan mengubah tegangan output dari pH probe menjadi 1.29V s\/d 2.53V, yang akan mewakili ph 0 hingga 14.
